The 2004 Riserva is both generous and gentle. The elegant bouquet brings forth notes of dried berry fruits,
rosemary, forest floor and coffee beans which build in intensity as the wine is allowed to breathe.
The long-lingering taste is precise and vibrant, stimulating the palate with a savoury freshness.

94 The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is impeccable and classy. Ripe red flowers and minerals are some of the nuances that emerge from this fresh, vibrant wine. The fruit remains incredibly youthful and pure all the way through to the finish. This is a surprisingly supple, fruit-driven style of Riserva from Biondi-Santi, and with time in the glass the reluctant bouquet finally emerges. Some of the explosiveness of the best vintages (such as 2001) is missing, but the wine nevertheless impresses for its finesse and impeccable overall balance. The 2004 Riserva looks to have a long life ahead of it, but it is so harmonious that opening a bottle in its youth, while not optimal, is far from infanticide. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2034. I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted from Biondi-Santi this year. Of course, Biondi-Santi is the estate that put Brunello di Montalcino on the map, so it is nice to see this historic property doing so well. These remain some of the most rigorous, ageworthy Brunellos readers will come across. Traditional vinification and aging in large, neutral casks are the rule. Ideally the wines are best left in the cellar or at least a decade after release, but readers will have a very hard time exercising such restraint here. These are magnificent Brunellos.

I like this Reserva from RdD. 100% Tempranillo aged for 24 months in oak barrels.

3.8 stars with more aging potential.

A deep ruby red and purple shades. Thick long legs in the glass.

On the nose medium intense aromas of blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, horse saddle, leather and slightly oak.

  • Soham Phillips

This amazing powerhouse from Ribera del Duero. Tinto Pesquera Reserva 2012 - Bodegas Alejandro Fernández. Decanting is advised 👌🍷 delicious cherry, vanilla, leather and cederbox with cigars. Milk chocolat, forrest floor, laurel. Great lenght and depth Amazing wine!

90 pts Given the quality of the Crianza I really was delighted to find this Reserva, needs way more time to fully flower however, still very enjoyable for me now. The Crianza is ready now, but this shows sleeping intensity and great future potential and longevity, wait a few years however.

Typical earthy red fruit with good use of oak, dusty vanilla. Weighty, full with a long finish, it will be a star in the future.
