Prince Robert of Luxembourg Partners Exclusively with Le Clos to Retail AED 1.1 Million Château Haut Brion Wine Console and Chest
Le Clos, the Dubai-based fine wine and luxury spirits retailer, has been exclusively selected by Prince Robert of Luxembourg to retail a limited-edition Château Haut Brion wine console and chest by Domaine Clarence Dillon, worth AED 1.1 million (US $305,555). The hand-crafted console and chest was designed by Prince Robert, President of Domaine Clarence Dillon, together with Lord Linley of London. The stunning console table includes a built-in wine chest, containing eight rare wine bottles representing the best vintages of each decade of Château Haut Brion since 1935. Hidden within secret drawers of the chest, are fine and elegant silverware, created and engraved by renowned Italian silversmith Buccellati.
Lord Linley’s designs, inspired by centuries of craftsmanship and style, express a tasteful elegance that is nothing short of excellence. The special Château Haut Brion console and chest was designed in 2010 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Dillon family’s acquisition of the Château Haut Brion property. Today, Domaine Clarence Dillon celebrates its 80th anniversary of ownership of Château Haut Brion by presenting Le Clos customers with the opportunity to own this limited edition set.
“We have had a long-standing relationship with Le Clos, and are constantly amazed by their global network of partnerships and their expertise and passion for the wine industry. It was important for us to select a retailer who is experienced at bringing rare and unique products to market and also who embodies the ethos and values of the Domaine Clarence Dillon. For us, Le Clos was a natural fit,” commented Jean-Philippe Delmas, Managing Director of Haut Brion.
The unique console table and chest is one of 15 consoles produced, using only the finest red woods including American Walnut, Satinwood, Santos Rosewood and Macassar Ebony. Previously only available through auction, Le Clos has been offered the opportunity to be the first and only store in the world to showcase the one piece ever to be retailed. The beautiful console and chest spans 1,000 mm high by 930 mm long and 450 mm deep, and holds exquisite vintages of Château Haut Brion rouge, including 1935, 1949, 1959, 1961, 1975, 1989, 1990 and 2009. These bottles are samples of the finest wines ever produced at Château Haut Brion and have laid patiently waiting in the cellars for up to 80 years.
“This is a rare chance to own a stunning and unique piece of furniture that encases some of the best wines of Bordeaux from the last century. All of the wines offered with the unit are sourced directly from Haut Brion, which is unique as a number of the vintages are no longer available to be sourced from the Château. We believe in bringing world-class experiences to our customers, and we are truly proud to partner with the team at Domaine Clarence Dillon to bring this exclusive opportunity to wine lovers and collectors worldwide,” shared Marek Sheridan, Managing Director, Le Clos.
In addition to the exclusive console and chest, the purchaser will also receive a unique experience to visit and lunch at Château Haut Brion with Mr. Jean-Philippe Delmas, Winemaker and Managing Director of Château Haut Brion. This once in a lifetime opportunity is welcome for a group of six, and can be arranged before December 10, 2016.
