Just like most of us have a childhood dream of a particular profession, I dreamt as well of having a career in the field of engineering or sports, but little did I know at that time that I would be in a field which is much more unique and interesting than any of these other ones.
After receiving an introduction to the world of wines and premium spirits through a degree course of BBA in Hospitality and Tourism in Goa, I professionally engaged myself with wines and spirits by working as a bartender for different types and styles of bars, which really gave me an opportunity to learn about every single spirit individually and also a chance to experiment with each one of them in various concoctions.
But the real craving and passion for learning more about wines developed when I joined cruise ships where I successfully attained the WSET Level 2 with distinction and had an opportunity to work as a sommelier for one of the famed Gary Rhodes restaurants on board the ship. The experience of pairing wine with food for diners, and the whole charm of working as a sommelier was a very satisfying experience. During the two world cruises that I have been on in two years, I had an opportunity to visit many vineyards in different parts of the world. So whether it was tasting some fine old Madeira and Ports in Madeira and mainland Portugal or spending the whole day tasting some of the exquisite Shiraz from different vineyards of the Barossa Valley in Australia the experience I had was truly magical.
